Up & coming designers: The Hellers

In contrast to the norm, the Tel Aviv based label The Hellers rejects the seasonal model to produce timeless, expertly tailored pieces that can be worn all year round. Run by siblings Dania and Yoram Heller, each piece is designed in limited run by Dania herself, who also shoots the brands look books on her trusty Holga camera. Despite only having launched their online store in January 2011, the label is already gaining fans thanks to its stunning designs and innovative use of digital prints.

The latest collection is inspired by the idea of Jane Eyre living on the wild ‘Aeolian Isles of Sicily.’ With a vast update on the traditional Victorian style of corsets and high necklines, the collection contains fifties style mid length skirts, kimono jackets, elegant silk trouser sets, cropped bralets and striking dresses in floral prints. Heller perfectly combines Victorian style, with the odd hint of a nipped in waist and full skirt, with the bright sunshine of Sicily, which we glimpse in the bright floral prints and shorter lengths. In her famous novel Bronte describes Jane as plain and prim, however this well traveled version of the heroine, in her abundance of silk and florals would surely have no trouble winning over her very own Mr Rochester.
